Stopping the IP Pirates
A key element of securing revenues in next generation video entertainment
is in the area of Content Security. There is no doubt that the
driving mechanism for next generation video will be IP, but are
the content owners still scared of the I in IP?
Does it mean that new operators are going to be plagued with piracy?
Specificallly addressing the role of DRM; is DRM doomed to be
proprietary, and which DRM is expected to be dominant (if any)?
How does DRM and service authorization based security co-exist
and complement each other?

Operators and content owners are seeking
to maximize the value of their businesses by repurposing programming
across multiple platforms: TV, Internet, mobile, games, and so
on. But the strategy could backfire if the strategy invites wholesale
piracy. How can intellectual property be protected -- without
"dumbing it down" by degrading the quality of video
storage to prevent it from being copies?

Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel - Los Angeles, California, USA
March 14: 12:00 - 12:40 What Digital Rights?
An entire generation has grown up that cares nothing for the digital rights
of TV networks, labels or movie studios -- at least where big acts are
concerned. Even those kids who don't actively download copyrighted material
readily trade albums' digital tracks among themselves. Can a DRM strategy
work in this environment?
